Jiri Santrucek is a professor of Plant Physiology at the University of South Bohemia, Ceske Budejovice, Czech Republic. After completing gradual degrees at the Czech University of Agriculture (M.Sc.) and at the Institute of Experimental Botany, he continued his research as postdoc fellow at IEB in Ceske Budejovice and at ANU (Australian National University) in Canberra.

From 2005 to 2008, he served as the Executive Editor of Biologia Plantarum. His interest and research focus mainly on physiology and development of stomata, control of leaf-atmosphere gas exchange, functional and structural aspects of leaf cuticle and fractionation of stable isotopes in photosynthesis.
